What is term life insurance?
Term life provides a death benefit for a set coverage period. It typically does not accumulate cash value. A level-term policy generally keeps its premium level during the initial term, although available periods and renewal provisions vary.
How it works
Choose an amount and a term that reflect your needs. If the insured dies while covered, eligible beneficiaries receive the policy benefit. If the term ends while you are living, coverage ends unless the contract provides an available renewal or conversion option.
Situations worth discussing
- Replacing income during working years
- Helping children reach financial independence
- Covering a mortgage or other temporary debt
- Seeking an initial premium that fits a tighter budget
